Machu Puchi, Peru

My sister & I started the 60km, 4 day hike from Mollepata to Machu Pichu full of  hopeful optimism and something  else.  After a 2 day training program of taking the stairs at the airport, we were ready to head off through the Salkantay Pass up to 4,100m, (13,450 ft)  to the lost Incan city of Machu Pichu.  But no worries, we had our fearless & trusty guide Herbert to lead us. After reaching the top and hearing a 5 minute avalanche above us, we knew we were in trouble.  NO time to turn back though,  had to put on our gloves and keep going. Beautiful sunny weather welcomed us to Machu Pichu where we spent the whole afternoon, feeling the power and admiring the views form one of the most amazing cities on earth.  And to think that it was all built with out the use of mortar or cement. Just perfectly carved rocks, some with up to 32 angles on them!
