About

Michael AmiciMichael Amici began his interest in photography while studying abroad in Italy more than ten years ago. Inspired by Europe’s diversity and history, he began photographing people in movement and learning how to wait and watch for those moments. He continued honing his skills while working as photo editor for his college newspaper. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Michael worked as a staff photographer with a newspaper at the Hearst Corporation. All in a day’s work, he photographed politicians, deadly crashes, protests, sporting events and concerts of world famous musicians. It was here that his fascination in capturing life & people with a camera evolved, and his skills, passion, as well as empathy as a photographer won him national accolades from the Hearst Corporation.

Michael’s passion for traveling, people and cultures led him back to his Mexican roots, where he settled in an artists colony in central Mexico, San Miguel de Allende. Further inspired by a love for life he experienced in the Mexican culture and the aesthetic beauty and energy of this historic colonial town, he began to dedicate himself to his own photography career. Always ready for adventure and travel, his camera has taken him all over Mexico, photographing violent demonstrations in Oaxaca for a newspaper, excited newlyweds in Playa del Carmen and Puerto Vallarta, ancient Haciendas and mines throughout Guanajuato, walking on a religious pilgrimage for days, and much more.

In addition to Mexico, he’s traveled worldwide to photograph historic events and locations, like chaotic Beijing during the Olympics, Havana’s (Cuba) uprising art scene, Moroccan markets untouched by time, up Guatemalan volcanoes and into Vietnamese cobra restaurants.

Supplementing his love for editorial and travel photography are commercial assignments that call upon Michael’s artistic vision, passion and positive energy. Michael’s breadth as a photographer has expanded to include portraiture, architecture, culinary, and stock photography. He has assisted master photographers in assignments for Fortune 500 companies that have given him the opportunity to travel around the world. From photographing cadets at Texas Military Bases, passengers on trains in the Swiss & Italian Alps, to officers at a medical company in Ireland & Australia, Michael has demonstrated a technical ability and confidence in his talent.

Michael’s passion for photography is limitless, like the future moments of people, time and places yet to be captured.
